Support disaster relief & response for independent pharmacies

Aside from insurance and governmental assistance, there is little support for independent pharmacies in times of disaster and often this support takes a long time to reach the pharmacy. 100% of gifts to the disaster relief fund go directly to pharmacies in need. Our disaster response fund supports efforts developed by our National Committee for Disaster Response for Independent Community Pharmacies.

Disaster Relief Fund

Since 1953, the NCPA Foundation has provided disaster aid to independent community pharmacies. The NCPA Foundation Disaster Relief Fund was established to provide financial assistance to independent community pharmacy owners throughout the 50 states, the District of Columbia, and U.S. territories. The fund helps pharmacies recover when impacted by a disaster (i.e. hurricanes, earthquakes, wildfires, floods, tornadoes, etc.) or a catastrophic event (i.e. property damage due to civil unrest or terrorist attack, business interruption or store closure due to pandemic, water crises, etc.). 100% of all dollars given to the disaster relief fund go directly to supporting independent community pharmacies.

Disaster Response Fund

In 2025, the NCPA Foundation established the National Disaster Response Committee for Independent Community Pharmacies to strengthen emergency preparedness nationwide. This fund empowers the committee to advocate for coordinated disaster response strategies that recognize independent pharmacies as essential healthcare infrastructure during emergencies. By integrating these community-based pharmacies into formal emergency planning, we can ensure more resilient healthcare access when disasters strike. The fund also provides rapid response grantmaking to independent community pharmacies who respond in times of disaster, but might not be physically impacted.
